We are delighted to see BID’s #RaiseTheBar campaign making an impact where it matters most – including being raised by journalists at a Government daily briefing recently. Now we are asking our BID area businesses and supporters to do their bit, by taking just 60 seconds to sign the petition to save the high street, here: https://bit.ly/2yJt7T8
The #RaiseTheBar campaign was launched last week to urge the Government to reconsider and to expand the rateable value threshold for all retail, hospitality and leisure businesses, to allow businesses that are currently missing out, to access the £25,000 grant in order to survive. If successful, this change would help around 150 hard-hit firms within the Swansea BID area to stay afloat.
We are already seeing this campaign, which is being led by Croydon BID and backed by an army of BIDs across the UK, being heard, but we need you to get behind it by signing the petition today. Please show your solidarity so we can ensure the Government grasps just how important #RaiseTheBar is to the survival of vital businesses across Wales and the wider UK. Remember to spread the word about #RaiseTheBar to your own customers and clients via your social media and marketing channels – these are the people who will be affected if some of our most valued businesses are allowed to fade from our high streets.
We are posting a host of #RaiseTheBar messages, artwork, and videos across our Swansea BID and Big Heart Facebook, Twitter and Instagram platforms. Please like and share them, to help give #RaiseTheBar the momentum it deserves.
Over the next few days we will be in touch with some of the businesses who are being affected by the current threshold shortfall. We hope some of you will be happy to talk to us about your personal experiences and concerns about keeping your business fit and healthy during the Coronavirus crises. These case studies are being gathered from BID area businesses across the UK, to feed into the campaign, and to illustrate how the current threshold puts real businesses and real livelihoods at risk. Please add your signature to the petition here: https://bit.ly/2yJt7T8, Remember to check in regularly at: https://www.swanseabid.co.uk/news/ for latest updates on this and other Swansea BID news and initiatives.
