Since our inception in 2006, as the first BID in Wales and one of the first in the UK, we have been leading the way to help make new things happen in Swansea city centre. Our ambition has always been to drive the BID area forward with powerful and productive partnerships, to transform the area and provide inspirational leadership. We instigate new ideas and amplify existing initiatives through informed and innovative investment.
Who we are
Swansea BID is one of the most exciting initiatives developed by the city centre’s business community. Its establishment in 2006 and its successful ballots in 2011, 2016 and 2021 reflected a shared ambition to create and grow, and a drive to put Swansea city centre on the map. Swansea BID is at the forefront of implementing key ideas, initiatives and investment to make the BID area a better place to shop, visit, study, stay and do business.
We are proud to have been the first BID in Wales to become British BIDs accredited in 2011 and have worked hard to maintain it ever since, to maintain our positioning in the top 20% of BIDs in the UK. We are also very proud to been awarded compliance with The BID Foundation Industry Standards and were the first BID in Wales to hold this, alongside British BIDs accreditation. These national accolades and accreditations provide reassurance that we are a well-run organisation that businesses should have confidence in.
We continued to invest in the Ranger service with our levy payers benefitting from well established links with the Rangers who act as conduits of information and play a lead role in improving the visitor and trading environment. They meet with the BID operations team, Police and other partners frequently sharing and cross channelling information.
