Swansea Market stalwarts, Billy Uptons Butchers, which made between 50 and 100 food deliveries per week at the height of lockdown has been recognised for caring for some of the most vulnerable and isolated people during the crisis.
The much-loved family business, that has been operating in the market for more than 30 years, worked throughout the lockdown period to ensure families and those in isolation were catered to. And they have been given a Swansea BID Extra Mile Award, for their efforts.
Alyson Adams, Billy Uptons’ co-owner, said: “We are very pleased to be given an Extra Mile Award from Swansea BID. We know from feedback we have received from our customers during this difficult time that our efforts have been appreciated. We have worked hard to keep our operations going during lockdown and to make sure people in and around Swansea have been well fed and safe. A number of businesses in Swansea Market have been working together during this time, so customers could have meat, dairy, fresh vegetables and baked good to their doorstep.
