New Grants To Help Hospitality Firms Serve Customers Outside

July 29, 2020 11:04 am

We are pleased to let you know that a further grant has been made available for hospitality businesses in Swansea City Centre to fund outdoor furniture, so restaurants, bars and cafes can serve their customers outdoors.

Swansea BID has been working hard with the Local Authority to get this new program of grant support over the line and we are delighted to say that the Premises Outdoor Adaptation Grant for eligible businesses is now live.

Grants of up to £8,000 are available, with businesses required to cover 20 percent of the total spend.

The up to 80 percent grant can be sought to buy quality items that will enhance and improve your outdoor seating area and customer experience. These items include –

  • Outdoor awnings
  • Canopies
  • Outdoor Heating
  • Larger barrier planters
  • Tables
  • Chairs
  • Cafe Style Barriers
  • Umbrellas
  • Park-Let space

Following this first step Swansea BID will work with its BID area businesses to support them in getting this new grant, and any additional support for your businesses.

The funding is available through the Welsh Government Transforming Towns initiative, with the grants available for independent and small to medium-sized enterprises that hold a pavement café licence. Those that don’t yet have a licence can apply to the Council which has introduced a fast-track application process.

Existing Welsh Government rules state that customers visiting a hospitality business can only be served food and drink outdoors at tables. Social distancing guidelines apply. The rules are under review and could change.

Don’t forget to take advantage of our FREE track and trace evepass app, it is a handy free tool to help with the Test Trace Protect process, and it will help make life simpler for you and your customers and clients as they return to the City Centre.
