Swansea BID is working with Swansea Council to encourage people to #ShopLocalShopSwansea – within current government guidelines – and to help local businesses during these difficult times. The campaign is particularly crucial in light of the stringent new restrictions being imposed upon hospitality businesses from Friday 4 December.
Swansea BID is using #ShopLocal branding on banners they have installed on Fabian Way lampposts, to remind shoppers to give independents a cwtch when it comes to doing their Christmas shopping.
Local retailers and hospitality businesses have continued to show their worth during the pandemic supporting shoppers with extra deliveries and click and collect options during the lockdowns. The business landscape is challenging and ever-changing, and it is important that we all play our part to help local businesses to thrive while being enjoyed safely.
Russell Greenslade, Chief Executive of Swansea BID said: “Traders, shoppers and households have all been dealing with very challenging circumstances these past few months and we have seen people really pull together to deal with this.
“We are pleased to be a part of the #ShopLocal campaign, to remind people that Swansea businesses – including those in the city centre – are on hand to support people throughout this ongoing situation. They very much appreciate the support of shoppers in return, so let’s continue to give them a cwtch by shopping locally. These new restrictions upon hospitality firms, requiring them to shut by 6pm and preventing them from serving, alcohol, will hit them hard. Let’s get behind them by taking them up on their takeaway services wherever possible.
