Valentine’s Day is the perfect time of year to give a big cwtch to small businesses in our City Centre, so Swansea BID is encouraging shoppers to #LoveLocal on February 14.
Latest studies show that for every £1 spent locally, 63p goes back into the local economy, helping to keep our City Centres vibrant and buoyant. So we are urging people to show some love for local firms when they buy flowers, chocolates, cinema or event tickets, meals out, or beauty treats for their loved one.
Business Liaison Manager at Swansea BID, Andrew Douglas, says: “Shoppers will find Swansea BID and the Big Heart’s window stickers dotted around the City Centre, saying a big thank you to visitors who are spending with local businesses. We would encourage BID area businesses to follow the #LoveLocal campaign on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram platforms, and to join in by using the hashtag and sharing news of your Valentine’s goods, services and promotions.
“Clearly, Valentine’s Day is an important calendar date for all of our BID area businesses, and we want to remind shoppers that there are a host of experiences to be had in Swansea City Centre while supporting local businesses – we have lively nightlife, exceptional restaurants, cinemas, galleries, theatres and venues for couples to enjoy. And, of course there are any number of places to buy unique gifts and tokens of affection.
“The importance of supporting small business is a message we are keen to remind shoppers about year-round. Here in Swansea City Centre we are lucky enough to have a vibrant mix of independents alongside larger businesses and national brands. And they all play their part in attracting shoppers and visitors.”
