Swansea Triathlon 2018 – Athletics and Anthems Powered By BID

Thousands of competitors will head to the City Centre on Sunday, 20th May to take part in the Swansea Triathlon, and we are proud to say the event will be Powered By BID once again, helping secure the event for the BID area.

The Swansea BID team may not be able to commit to a 750 metre swim in the Prince of Wales Dock, a 20k bike ride along Mumbles Road and a 5k run along the promenade, but we can do our bit by adding our sponsorship and by hosting the ever-popular Swansea Tri Live, which brings a host of top local music acts to Castle Square on Saturday, 19 May and on Tri day itself adding to the atmosphere and bringing supporters in earlier increasing dwell time.

Projects Manager at Swansea BID, Amelia Rudman, said: “Swansea Triathlon is one of the biggest events of the year in Swansea, bringing athletes from across the UK to take part in what must be one of the most picturesque triathlons in the UK.

“We are delighted that this year’s event will be Powered By BID, since Swansea Triathlon does so much to boost the profile of the City Centre and it brings crowds of spectators and volunteers into our BID area and its businesses, who go on to enjoy what the city has to offer – if you are hoarse from cheering for a friend in the race then you can always head into the City Centre for some liquid refreshment and to relax after the day’s exertions.

“More than 1,000 people took part in last year’s event, so we are hoping for a similar turnout, and I know the race organisers are looking for volunteers to help with the smooth running of the race, so, by all means, get in touch if you feel you can help – that atmosphere alone is worth your time.”

Amelia adds: “I believe the triathlon organisers are in talks regarding potentially hosting a world triathlon series event in the future, which, if it went ahead, would be likely to bring the sport’s global stars to the area in years to come. This is, I think, an indicator of the real can-do attitude and the desire to put Swansea on the world map that is in the air at the moment, so we will all be watching this space.”

Spaces are filling up fast, so if you want to take part, go to: www.swanseatriathlon.com/enter-now/

There will be some road closures in place on the day of the event. For further details visit the Swansea triathlon website.
